Tool and Training

The tools and training presented in this section were developed to support the identification, management, and mitigation of human rights risks, fostering more responsible and transparent practices among all actors involved in the sugarcane supply chain.

The tools — including the root cause analysis guide, stakeholder consultation guide, and the action plan and risk matrix templates — provide technical support for decision-making and the development of effective actions to address human rights risks.

The training modules, organized according to the stages of due diligence (policy; identify; act and integrate; monitor; communicate; and remediate), equip mill professionals, suppliers, and service providers to apply these principles in an integrated manner across their operations, strengthening a culture of respect for human rights within the sector.

Human Rights Due Diligence
This course was developed based on the Practical Guide for Human Rights Due Diligence in the Sugar-Energy Sector, created by Proforest and Imaflora in partnership with Bonsucro, Barry Callebaut, General Mills, Hershey, Nestlé, and ASR Group.

The objective is to introduce the concept and stages of due diligence for sugarcane mills, providing a practical and straightforward overview of the Guide to facilitate understanding of its content and the approach proposed in the material.
